#3   Colony formation assay -- Crystal Violet (CV) Staining of Cells
and Clone counting

Solutions needed:
10% Formalin
0.05% Crystal Violet in Distilled Water

1.      Aspirate media off
2.      Fix the cells for 10 min with 10% Formalin
3.      STAIN them 30 min with 0.05%Crystal Violet solution
4.      Wash 2x with tap water
5.      Drain them inverted for a couple minutes. The dishes can then be
photographed or scanned for colony counts or counted manually.
6.      Can take Picture, and analyse (count) with ImageJ software (freely
downloadable from NIH)
